Clinton-Newberry Natural Gas Authority has joined Clinton and Newberry High Schools in a friendly rivalry between the two varsity teams. With the game to be played in Newberry at 7:30 p.m. on 9/6/24, CNNGA thought this event would be a great fit for the Public/Community Interest section.
Clinton-Newberry Natural Gas Authority is honored to be part of the communities it serves. Partnering with these communities allows CNNGA to meet the needs of the communities by promoting safe pipeline operations and natural gas delivery to serve almost 14000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Anyone excavating within CNNGA’s service territory should always call 811 before they break ground. Doing so will protect them, the lives of others, and the communities by identifying and spotting all underground utilities.
Battle of the Belt is a partnership between Clinton-Newberry Natural Gas Authority, Clinton High School, and Newberry High School to celebrate one of the oldest high school football rivalries in South Carolina. Clinton and Newberry's teams first played on October 8, 1920, in Newberry. According to information obtained from the Newberry Observer, admission to the first game was .25 cents.
The championship belt will be presented to the winning team after the game and the winning team will keep the belt for one year until the next Clinton-Newberry football game. CNNGA is also proud to partner with both high schools to present awards to the Most Valuable Player and Academic Player of the Game. These presentations will also take place on the field immediately following the game.
In addition, CNNGA is partnering with all local high schools within the CNNGA territory to provide megaphone popcorn holders which will feature the school logo, CNNGA’s logo, and Pipeline Safety Messaging. The seven high schools are Clinton, Laurens Academy, Mid-Carolina, Newberry, Newberry Academy, Thornwell, and Whitmire.
