Museum’s First Look --- The Laurens County Museum stages a soft-opening, first look event Sunday, Nov. 15 at its new home, The Witherspoon Building across from the Laurens Monument Square. Piano music and light refreshments are available to those following all CDC safety requirements for this event. Two front window displays feature items from the former Laurens Glass Plant. First floor features a large exhibition room, a TV theatre, lobby and office, and a second exhibition space where items can be displayed behind glass. Second floor is The Magnolia Room, an events venue featuring several large, wall-mounted artifacts. The Witherspoon Building will be home to displays and artifacts that reflect life in Laurens County spanning Native Americans who were here 12,000 to 14,000 years ago to modern times, war memorabilia, African-American life, industry, law enforcement, sports, domestic life, education and religion, the Rosemont Preservation Society, and The Dr. J. Robert Crawford Native American Artifact Collection; with its own and another collection, the museum has more than 20,000 Native American artifacts. Info: 864-681-3678. -- Photos by Vic MacDonald
