A 44-Year Public Service Career

Posted

Robin Morse, of Clinton, was honored Nov. 5 at the Laurens County Higher Education Center on his 44-year career in Law Enforcement, National Guard and Public Service. He was presented an American Flag flown over the US Capitol by Congressman Jeff Duncan, R-3rd-Laurens, and fire helmets as gifts from Clinton residents. Speakers talked about Morse's mentorship to young officers and the fact that he was awarded the law enforcement Purple Heart for a 1975 incident in which he suffered a shotgun blast to the midsection while responding to a call to the Laurens County Sheriff's Office. "Many people would have chosen a different career (after being wounded). You didn't. In fact, you excelled in the career you chose," Congressman Duncan said. Morse served with the Laurens County Sheriff's Office, the SC Highway Patrol, the SC National Guard, Piedmont Technical College criminal justice instructor, the Laurens Police Department, and the Clinton Department of Public Safety, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy - now, he is an assistant Laurens County Coroner and volunteer firefighter. - Photos by Vic MacDonald
