Petty is Freshman of Week again

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Presbyterian College guard Taylor Petty (Spartanburg - Dorman High) was named The Cons Brand Freshman of the Week, while Radford sophomore forward Janayla White was named the Big South Conference Women’s basketball Player of the Week, for games played Jan. 4-10.
Petty, who claimed her second straight Freshman of the Week nod, headlined her week with an 18-point performance in Presbyterian’s setback to Radford on Monday. The Spartanburg, S.C., native was 5-for-11 (45.5 percent) from the field, including a 4-for-8 (50.0 percent) mark from three-point range.
White led the Highlanders with an average of 15.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in helping Radford to a pair of conference victories over Presbyterian College and Winthrop last week. White shined in the home win over the Eagles, scoring 18 points to go along with her game-high 15 rebounds. The sophomore also totaled 12 points and four blocks in RU’s 64-53 road win over the Blue Hose to open the week. White closed the pair of contests 10-for-14 (71.4 percent) from the field.
