A game of runs

Allie Wagner (45, shown in earlier action), sophomore forward out of Wren HS, Easley, scored 11 points for the Presbyterian College women's basketball team in Tuesday night's 52-37 home win over Charleston Southern. Led by Salina Virola's 15 points, the Blue Hose improve to 14-9 overall, 10-4 in the Big South Conference - and they are chasing a school record.
The 2012-13 women's team finished 19-10, 14-4 in Big South, the most NCAA DI wins and Big South wins for Blue Hose women's basketball.
CSU started Tuesday night's action on a 9-0 run, and PC trailed 11-4 after the 1st quarter. By halftime, the Blue Hose had taken an 18-17 lead. CSU went on an 11-2 run, opening up a 28-20 lead. PC responded with a 15-0 run, leading 38-30 going into the 4th quarter. The Blue Hose ended the game on a 7-0 run to cement the victory. Charleston Southern's final points came with 5:04 left on the game clock. The Blue Hose defense forced 24 CSU turnovers.
The Blue Hose women are back at home in the on-campus Templeton Center on Feb. 20, 2 pm tip, against Campbell University.
