Letter: The Recreation Complex is being forgotten

The editor:

It seems the new sports complex keeps being pushed aside.

Yes, it's mentioned occasionally, only to appease those of us that have been waiting years for it to be built. But then other unnecessary things come up, like giving PC money to put up lights, renovating the Municipal Building, building a library, etc.

The 2% Hospitality Tax was originally to be used for a new complex. But as the years have passed, other uses of the money have somehow snuck in. Now we're hearing it can be used for roads, bridges, water, and sewer? How about we build what we've been promised, then use any left over money for these other expenses? And instead of giving PC money for lights, or renovating the Municipal Building, use the Accommodation Tax to fix our roads and infrastructure. I'm all for PC getting new lights on the baseball field, but not at our expense. It will not benefit the town in any way.

We need to be building what will bring people, businesses, and revenue in. That's what a sports complex will do.
