The editor:

I would like to congratulate the CHS boys varsity basketball team for currently holding first place in their conference…yes…they are headed for the playoffs!

These coaches and team players represent the entire Clinton community well.

Last Friday, I traveled to Broome to watch the girls’ and boys’ varsity basketball teams play Broome.

During the boys’ game, the officials called multiple fouls against both teams. As is normal, fans from both teams did not always agree with the calls made against their team and they did not mind vocalizing that displeasure.

The talent of both teams kept the score close and the excitement level very high.

As time progressed and fouls mounted, Coach Eddie Romines, along with his staff, and the Red Devils made me proud to be a CHS fan.

Even as fans expressed displeasure with the called fouls, the young men on the court kept their composure as they continued to focus on winning the game.

Their show of sportsmanship was incredible. This was in stark contrast to the action of the opposing team who demonstrated (with animation) their displeasure with the calls of the officials.

Congratulations to you, CHS Red Devils! I trust you keep this rapport as you continue to focus on bring the basketball championship home to Clinton.

Thank you, Red Devils, for making me proud to be a CHS supporter.
