TONIGHT: D56 Board to announce retirees

Regular meeting will consider gifted and talented, early autism

The Board of Trustees of School District 56 will adopt resolutions for retiring faculty and staff TONIGHT, 7:30 pm, at its monthly meeting in the Clinton High School auditorium. The retirees dinner will be May 3 in the CHS cafeteria.

Under the Superintendent's Report, the board also will receive a Gifted and Talented Program Overview and a report on the Early Autism Project. The D56 board meeting tonight (April 25) is open to the public. Anyone who wants to address the board with any concern must register prior to the meeting.

Special recognitions for tonight's meeting are Special Olympics and Bailey Manor Student Art Show winners. The targeted focus goal will be Special Education, and the Superintendent's Report also will include a report on the AdvancEd External Review Team for LCSD 56. A budget/finance report will be given, and March Finance Information will be presented to the board. First reading will be given 13 board policies, and second (final) reading will be given two board policies. The district's Strategic Plan will receive second and final reading.

The board will consider professional services for students with disabilities for school year 2016-17, and the board will be asked to approve application for Title I, II and III funds. The next board meetings will be May 31 and June 27, and a tentative May 5 date is set for a board budget workshop.
