Reynolds will be sheriff

Challenger defeats incumbent Chastain in Republican primary

By just over 600 votes, Laurens County Republican voters have decided the county will have a new Sheriff.

Challenger Don Reynolds defeated incumbent Ricky Chastain, 4,265 - 3,656, today in the Republican primary. Reynolds will have no Democratic opposition in the November General Election. Chastain was seeking his 5th term as Sheriff.

Renold will take office as Laurens County Sheriff in January.

Former County Council Chairman Jim Coleman defeated former State Rep. David Tribble, 4,455 - 3216, to win the GOP nomination as Laurens County Auditor. Coleman will have no Democratic opposition in November.

In SC House District 42, which includes half of Clinton and most of Union County, Tommy Mann defeated Mark Cathcart, 1,245 - 782, to win the Republican nomination. Mann will face incumbent Democrat Mike Anthony in the November General Election.
