Closed sessions will consider employment issues, county administrator position

Laurens County Council on Tuesday will convene at 4:30 pm to discuss employment issues and, at the conclusion of its regular 5:30 meeting, will discuss the county administrator position in an executive session. Council has interviewed and is considering potential replacements for County Administrator Ernie Segars, who will retire next week.

The council's regular twice-monthly meeting will be at 5:30 pm in council chambers, second floor of the historic courthouse in downtown Laurens. The meeting is open to the public. Anyone who wants to address the council during public comments time must register before the meeting starts. Council will take final action on an ordinance pertaining to D&W Fine Pack in the Octagon Industrial Park, and will take first action on a fee-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement with Project Rain Boots and Faurecia Interior Systems.

Council will consider resolutions for Disabilities & Special Needs Month and Fair Housing Month, 2nd reading of an ordinance for right-of-way for Laurens Commission of Public Works, adoption of the Laurens County Mitigation Plan (emergency communications), resolution to adopt "in concept" the Lake Greenwood Master Plan, and will hear a report from the Committee on Public Works (Stewart Jones, chairman).

An administrative report, public comments and comments from council members will precede the closed session discussion of the county administrator position.

The next meetings of Laurens County Council will be March 22, and April 12 and 26.

Anyone who wants to speak to the council, within the rules for public comments, must sign up prior to the start of the Laurens County Council meeting. The council meetings are the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month.
