“Multiculturalism” - count me in.
“I got caught up in the moment.” -- Capitol Riot suspect (innocent until proven guilty in a court of law)
The radical right wants to cancel President Biden’s culture right off the bat.
Impeachment documents were filed the day he was sworn into office.
Pet projects (pipeline, wall and such) are defended - while highways and bridges continue to crumble. To keep the pipeline, the radical right is trying to drive a wedge between Biden and Unions, which traditionally are Democrats’ major supporters.
The stimulus package is too large.
The vaccine roll-out is too slow.
The 1776 commission is real history.
Transgenders ... blah, blah, blah.
It’s all part of the radical right’s effort to tell you, “Be Afraid, be very, very afraid,” and that’s par for the course. When that fear-stoking becomes violent, the radical right almost begs to not have the old axiom - Actions Have Consequence - applied to them. “Oh, I was caught up;” “Oh, I didn’t hit him that hard;” “Oh, I didn’t even know he was getting closed up in the door;” “Oh, zip ties? I found them on the floor;” "Oh, I was patting him on the back." A line gets crossed, however, when they try to convince you that Culture, is white culture.
I found this on Yahoo! News:
“Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's departing message to the US is that multiculturalism is 'not who America is' - John Haltiwanger January 19, 2021, 10:51 AM
“The outgoing secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, on Tuesday decried multiculturalism as un-American.
‘Our enemies stoke these divisions because they know they make us weaker,’ he said. Pompeo was excoriated on Twitter for his comments.
“On his last full day as the top US diplomat and just one day after Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo deemed multiculturalism to be un-American.
‘Woke-ism, multiculturalism, all the -isms - they're not who America is. They distort our glorious founding and what this country is all about. Our enemies stoke these divisions because they know they make us weaker,’ Pompeo said in a tweet.
“The US has an extraordinarily diverse population and generally celebrates the hodgepodge of cultures that have helped define it. Many on Twitter took issue with Pompeo's words, given that multiculturalism is widely viewed as a central tenet of the US. —Jonathan Allen (@jonallendc) —Keith Boykin (@keithboykin) —Aaron Rupar (@atrupar)

“This is not the first time Pompeo has decried multiculturalism. In 2015, he cited a sermon before the Kansas Legislature that said: 'America had worshipped other Gods and called it multiculturalism. We'd endorsed perversion and called it an alternative lifestyle.'
“Pompeo, who is thought to have ambitions of running for president in 2024, has been a controversial secretary of state.”
I just hope someday I get the chance to vote against this guy.
I am culturally enriched by Chinese New Year on the Presbyterian College campus.
I am culturally enriched by the Cherokee Pow Wow.
I am culturally enriched by traveling out west and learning about the people who walked the Grand Canyon thousands of years before the white man. When the buffalo ran free.
I am culturally enriched by films: “One Night in Miami” and “Mo Rainey’s Black Bottom.”
I would love to sample the culture of India - one of my greatest times was watching and listening to an African choir in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church Clinton.
“Multiculturalism” is a great buzzword, but it’s almost pathetic for a United States Secretary of State to travel the world refusing to see it, and never wanting it to come back into OUR nation.
Look, it’s not going to happen and I understand that, but NOW is the time to stop back-biting each other so much. You are going to hear a lot in the next four years about the separation of three branches of government. Impeachment? That’s the Senate’s job. Election Lawsuits? That’s the Supreme Court’s job. The U.S. Attorney for Georgia abruptly quit after the former president criticized Republicans there for not declaring him the winner of the election? That’s the Department of Justice’s job.
You are going to see a lot less “boogey-man” politics coming from the Oval Office. White Supremacists? Yes, they will be held in check. Violent Antifas? Yes, they will be arrested. But, guaranteed, President Biden will not use them to scare you into contributing to his legal defense fund.
President Biden is going to do his job.
We can all help make American strong again by doing ours - and keeping ourselves and the ones we care about safe. Get on board or not - the train is leaving the station with you or without you.
